MOU between RCIM and RCDSM India to partner as Sister Clubs

The Rotary Club of Islamabad Metropolitan (District 3272) Pakistan and the Rotary Club of Delhi South Metropolitan (District 3012) India established a partnership to further understanding and foster goodwill through long-standing fellowship and international service. This partnership was recognised in the form of a Certificate of Recognition.

Moreover, both Clubs also signed a Memorandum of Understanding in pursuance of the objective of Rotary to encourage and foster the advancement of international understanding and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service. Through this MOU, both Clubs entered into a Twin Club Arrangement for a period of ten years.

Twinning of RCIM and RC Bucharet Cismigiu

The twinning of Rotary Club Islamabad (Metropolitan) with Rotary Club Bucharest Cismigiu was initiated by President Imran Ghaznavi to connect globally with the best Rotary Clubs. A virtual meeting took place between the clubs on November 15th, 2022, to initiate the twinning of clubs and after thorough deliberations, both sides were happy to connect virtually and decided to hold formal twinning of the clubs after the due approval of the club Boards. The twinning ceremony was organized virtually after completing due formalities on February 7th, 2023, where the national anthems of both countries were played, and members were introduced. The meeting ended with the hope and trust to take this relationship a long way.

Background: After the twinning of Rotary Club Islamabad (Metropolitan) District 3272 with Rotary Club of Delhi South Metropolitan District 3011, President Imran Ghaznavi took the initiative to connect globally with the best Rotary Clubs. He established contact with PP Rtn. Andrei Botez of Rotary Club Bucharest Cismigiu district 2241 and proposed twinning of both clubs around September 2022. After through deliberations on both sides, a zoom meeting took place among  the clubs on November 15th, 2022, for the formal introduction of club members, getting to know the background of clubs and their initiatives in community service.

Virtual Twinning Meeting: The Twinning meeting was held on February 7th 2023. The meeting agenda was set to commence at 19:00 PST/ 22:00 RST with the national anthems of both countries. The introductory words were given by the President of Rotary Club Bucharest Cismigiu – Georgiana Cosoveanu and the President of Rotary Club Islamabad (Metropolitan) – Imran Ghaznavi. Rtn Barrister Adnan Saboor Rohaila District Governor RID 3272 and Rtn Liliana Hagicalil Assistant Governor District 2241 also gave their speeches. The signing of papers live, online, with pictures and virtual handshakes, followed.

Club Highlights and Potential Areas of Collaboration: President Georgiana Cosoveanu opened the proceeding; she thanked all Rotarians present in meeting and appreciated their commitment towards to community service. She appreciated President Imran Ghaznavi for such an amazing initiative.

President Imran Ghaznavi thanking President Georgiana Cosoveanu for her kind remarks and expressing his gratitude towards PP Rtn. Andrei Botez for his efforts in connectivity. President Imran welcomed the Rotarians of RCBC and hoped that this relationship would go a long way. He invited the members of RCBC to visit Pakistan for cementing the lasting relationship. Rtn Barrister Adnan Saboor Rohaila, District Governor RID 3272, appreciated the efforts of President Imran Ghaznavi in reaching out to global rotary clubs and enhancing the outreach of community service and goodwill. DG Adnan hoped that this initiative will go long way and bring enormous goodwill between both the districts. Rtn. Liliana Hagicalil’s Assistant Governor RID 2241 welcomed the Rotarians from both side and hoped for lifelong relationship.

Rotary Club Bucharest Cismigui presented their flagship projects, which included Detail Health – Beautiful Teeth Healthy Children, Safety – Car safety for children presented by Alice Mitu, and Art Rotary.

Rotary Club Islamabad (Metropolitan) presented their flagship projects, which included Lifesaver clean water project – PP Rtn Tazeem Chaudhry, Tree school support for needy children – Rtn Imran Ghaznavi, Senior Citizen Club, and Traffic rules awareness through university students.

Conclusion: The twinning of Rotary Club Islamabad (Metropolitan) with Rotary Club Bucharest Cismigiu is a significant initiative towards connecting globally with the best Rotary Clubs. The virtual meeting held on February 7th, 2023, paved the way for a lasting relationship between the two clubs. The club highlights and potential areas of collaboration presented by both the clubs showed a willingness to work together for the betterment of humanity. The hope and trust to take this relationship a long way mark the success of this twinning initiative.

MOU between Shifa Foundation and RCIM

An MOU between RCIM and Shifa Foundation was signed on April 1, 2022 by RCIM President 2021-22 Rtn. Farkhanda J. S. Andrabi during her Presidential tenure and Executive Director Shifa Foundation Islamabad Dr. Khadeeja Azhar. Both organisations would collaborate in carrying out community service projects for health, education, and environment.

Thanks to this initiative, RCIM received medicines worth Rs. 50’000 from Shifa Foundation in September 2022 to be distributed among flood affectees. RCIM matched this donation by purchasing additional medicine worth Rs. 50’000.
